The G-1 MIL-J-7823 series of jackets span a long timeframe and many were made. They started around 1951 and finished around 1960. The details of each jacket maker's design are unique, just like the earlier Navy jackets, but later in this series, new design standards form. For one, the pockets of earlier jackets have a three-point flap, where later 7823 jackets have a simple rounded flap. Also, the change of painting USN on the back of the collars to using a USN perforation in the wind flap is seen on this series, in some cases having both. One interesting detail is the change from the older Navy contract number system (example: N383s-34493A) to a new one that uses QM(CTM), as Air Force contracts also have.
