About This Jacket:
This G-1 is a very large example from Monarch MFG. Co. of Milwaukee, WI. They made A-2 and M-422 jackets
during WWII, as well as numerous sheepskin jackets. In the 1950's they had one G-1 contract, and it would have been before they closed their doors in
1957. The jacket has very nice proportions, and it fits me in a roomy manner, but not too large. The leather is of medium weight, though many Monarch
G-1s have heavier than average goatskin. The lining has a seam down the middle, which only Monarch did. Another trademark of Monarch jackets is
that the wind flap ends about 1 inch short of the bottom of the jacket. The knits were replaced by Flight Suits, who did a fantastic job. Note the wide and
sloping shoulders.
