Home | U.S. Navy Jackets | M-421A
The M-421A series of jackets are cloth light-weight cotton summer jackets. The series dates to 1941-1943, along with the M-422A leather jackets,
and can be seen with the same contract numbers in some cases. Often contracts were ordered for several types of jackets at once, so that explains contract numbers
being the same. The jackets usually have two pockets at the waist, but some have been seen with one pocket on the chest as well. The sleeves have a
diamond-shaped piece for reinforcement, and the interior has a snapped pocket. Some examples have USN stamped in ink in the interior, while others don't.
The collars are noted for having angled points on this specification, where later jackets, such as the AN-6551, have rounded collar tips.
