About This Jacket:
This AN-6552 by American Sportswear of Brigham City, UT, is one fantastic jacket. The
condition is wonderful for a jacket that dates to 1943. The jacket was owned by Lt. Col. (USMC) Harry J. Bearlund, serving in WWII on the
USS Bennington. He survived an F4U Corsair crash February of 1945. This jacket is very close in dimension to the two size 46s of the same contract
that I've had. The leather is quite thick and shiny, and stiff in some areas. The mouton has a nice rusty color. The lining is a salmon
color just as the others I've seen from this contract. The pockets are spaced far from each other in this larger size, and the flaps are
affected by arm movement. The cloth lining of the front pockets is a shade of light green, and the grommets from this maker are bright
red. Note the knits, which are slightly lighter and more reddish than the leather.
