About This Jacket:
This B-7 hooded flight jacket was developed by USAAF, intended for use in temperature zones
ranging from heavy to very heavy in extreme cold areas, with Alaska and Newfoundland in mind. It was standardized on July 12, 1941,
along with matching flying trousers (Type A-6, Spec.94-3119), and continued to be produced through 1942. I was able to track down the original owner and
talk with him. He was a ferrying pilot for the 7th Ferrying Group based in Montana, and he ferried all kinds of aircraft to Alaska for the
Russian Lend-Lease program. |
