About This Jacket:
This jacket is basically an A-2, but is a civilian version from what I can tell by some details. The
jacket was made by David D. Doniger & Co., as the details of construction are identical to that contract, such as the 1/4 inch top stitching
on seams, pointed collar tips, square stitching of the hanger strip, small pockets, and unique epaulette design. The leather appears to be
something like baby goatskin (cabretta) or possibly lambskin, and is very thin and soft. The color is typical of many WWII jackets, though
not of the Doniger contract, which was a brighter russet color. The lining is almost perfect, with vertually no signs of wear, and there was a
label in once which darkened that area slightly (I applied an Aero Bronco reproduction label). The knits have an interesting dual shade of
light brown and darker brown. The Talon zipper is also a civilian model, though close to a WWII version. Note the Doniger pocket label and
civilian DOT snaps by United Carr. |
