About This Jacket:
This jacket is a fine example of a later-made M-445a. These jackets were made at approximately the
same time as the AN-6553 and AN-J-4, and seem to have had the same design. This jacket's contract number is quite odd for the usual spec
numbers one sees during this time. Note that it's made with sheepskin and goatskin trim, both in a nice shade of seal brown. The jacket is
quite heavy and in excellent condition after 60 years. My questions are these: why US as a stamp rather than USN? And what's the little
anchor stamp for, possibly an inspector's approval? Also, I don't know what the paper tab with 111 stands for, possibly a lot number?
