About This Jacket:

This jacket is an example of the earlier Navy M-445A design, and one which is uncommon and somewhat hard to find. The Monarch, as with all earlier M-445 jackets, has diamond shaped goatskin reinforcements on the sleeve, which were later designed as a rectangle covering most of the sleeve. Also, the zipper spans the full height of the jacket, where later designs had the zipper stop three inches from the bottom, and buttons were added. The wind flap is just an extension of the front sheepskin panel, rather than a goatskin piece as seen on later jackets. The Monarch pockets are quite tall and large, which is one easy detail to identify them.
