About This Jacket:
This jacket is a great representation of a pre-WWII Rough Wear B-6. I've not had or seen one that
I can compare it to, but the color and consistency of the sheepskin is quite close to comparable B-3 jackets of the same contract. The
sheerling is called redskin, due to the final color of the leather after tanning and overspray. The thickness is about 1/4 inch all around,
and that's what jackets of this type are seen to be. The leather exhibits nice small wrinkling, and if worn quite a bit should develope into
fantastic character. The B-6 jacket has epaulettes and zippered waist closures, which no other sheepskin jacket had in the USAAF. Note
also the snap sleeve end closures. As a 44, it fits me with plenty of room for movement. |
