Californian Ventura Half-Belt Jacket

This jacket is a stock size 44 Ventura, made with cowhide. This cowhide has a comfortable drape, but it has good weight. The color is a very dark brown, and there's tons of grain that will only get more pronounced as the jacket is used. The leather weight is about 3oz. The lining is a smooth rayon from the UK. The zipper is a heavy No.6 Crown, but is from the era when Coats & Clark owned the brand, and so the slider is marked C & C on the pull tab.

The jacket has only been worn for 20 minutes in a photo session, so it's basically new. On the lining, there's one mis-stitch next to the leather facing, which can be seen in the photo below. This is one reason that the price of this jacket is this low. This area of the lining will be just fine, and cannot be seen when worn, so we believe that it's a small issue of little importance.

A lighter cotton thread color gives the dark leather some good contrast, and many vintage jackets would have had similar leather and thread combinations. Also, note the vintage label below our California Sportwear label. This is one of many hundreds of vintage labels that we've found over the last year. We have a trove of brand labels from the 1930s-1950s, and this one is a 1940s Henry C. Litton & Sons label. Litton was a massive chain department store based in Chicago. The label size tag is also vintage.

The jacket fits right as a vintage size 44, and would ideally fit someone in the range of 5'11" to 6'1" with a chest of 41.5-43, and a weight of about 185-205 pounds.
