The jacket was made by Star Sportswear of Lynn, MA, a prolific military garment company. This jacket is in great shape, and quite wearable, and has almost all original parts. Though almost 70 years old, the jacket is comfortable and would look great worn. The leather is thick and solid, with some edge-wear around folded seams and areas that get wear. The leather is still comfortable, almost like new. The lining is in excellent condition, with stencils from units from which the jacket was issued. The knits are all original, robust, and hold up fine. The mouton was replaced once, and then we replaced that with much better mouton. The zipper has one half replaced with our repro Conmar tape (the non-slider side), and our Conmar copies are identical, so the zipper runs perfectly. Slider is original. The jacket had a patch on the right chest and left shoulder. The stitch marks are quite light, and don't distract from the quality of the leather. The jacket fits somewhat large for a size 40, and almost fits John, but is a bit too tight in the torso and shoulders.
