The jacket was made by Star Sportswear of Lynn, MA, a prolific military garment company. This jacket is in great shape, and quite wearable, and has all original parts. Though almost 70 years old, the jacket is comfortable and a sight to behold. The leather is solid, with typical edge-wear around folded seams and areas that get wear. The leather is still very soft and comfortable, but hefty. The lining is in amazing condition, with no holes anywhere, and along the collar is is perfectly fine. The knits are all original, robust, and there is only one tiny hole in the right cuff by the leather. The zipper works great, though we always suggest to people that they use zippers carefully on anything vintage. The mouton is great as well. It even has the cloth size label under the main label—these often fall off after a short amount of wear. The jacket fits like most size 44s of the period, a bit larger than usual. Those familiar with John's typical sizing will note that this is just a tiny bit smaller than what he makes for himself.
