The goatskin is our new goatskin, from an excellent source, and we love how close it is to WWII goatskin. The color we requested is good, but some jackets are a little darker in the shades of russet, which we want to emulate. This tested coloring the stock russet shade about two tones darker, and our dyes worked great. This is what many original Rough Wear 18091 jackets look like, and this jacket will be the example for the web site. The goatskin is chrome tanned, 1mm, and has a soft and comfortable drape. The grain is wonderful. Areas of stress and friction from wear will fade lighter to the base finish. We've copied Rough Wear's pattern to the smallest detail. Originals had dark brown cotton thread, a straight-bar Talon slider (we have many original sliders from this period), and mid-brown knits. Our new knitting mill has the best knits we've ever handled, and this jacket is made with those knits. We also found an amazing fabric supplier, so our lining fabrics are even better than what we had before. This jacket has been lightly used by John, and shows very subtle signs of use, but not much.
