This one has very light wear, and it has accurate details for the contract. Most originals were made with a russet color just like this, and with a very similar finish. The knits were often of a dark russet shade, which is why we used these. Almost every original we've seen was sewn with a light olive cotton thread, which we have on this one. The design of Poughkeepsie jackets is quite comfortable, and many details are similar to those of Aero Leather of Beacon, New York. They were close to each other, and we suspect that the Army might have sent an Aero original for them to use as reference when designing their own pattern. The Army would typically send a jacket from it's collection for any potential contractor to use for reference. Originals had United-Carr Line 24 ring snaps, and we've used vintage United-Carr snaps, of which we have a considerable stash. The collar snaps in the body are hidden below the lining on the back side, though we've seen some originals that had the snaps exposed, as well. Poughkeepsie is noted for not sewing the triangle of stitching at the bottom of the zipper in the leather. Other companies did this as well, like Perry Sportwear, Star Sportswear, Monarch, Knopf and Doniger. The jacket would ideally fit someone in the range of 5'10" to 6'2", with a chest of 41" to 44", and a weight of about 185-205 pounds. The jacket is shown with a wearer who is 6 feet tall with a 41.5" chest.
