We intended to built this exact jacket about a half size smaller than how it came out. It's unusual for us to make a jacket that didn't hit the target size-wise, but it was obvious that the fit was closer to a 44 than a 42 when finished. A second jacket was made to remedy the fit. This one is available, and it's in new, unused condition. The leather is wonderful...this new goatskin is from a tannery we found, and placed a large order with. We are using several shades of seal brown, and this shade is common for Block originals, as well as 1950s Navy jackets. The grain is so cool, and it has good weight. No tanning odors. We crafted our Block pattern from two solid originals, and we've got another we use for reference. We've also handled about ten other original Blocks. The design is very common-sense and comfortable, and like most M-422A jackets, it has a long torso. This jacket looks great new, but will look even better once it's gotten wear in it. The mouton is vintage LaskinLamb mouton, and as with some originals, it's got a light russet color. Laskin was one of the biggest mouton tanneries during WWII, and they contributed heavily in military clothing. They clearly marked the leather side of their skins, so we know this mouton is one of their products. A little history can be read about Harry and Leopold Block in this link. Scroll up a bit to catch the first sentence. The jacket would ideally fit someone in the range of 5'10" to 6'2", with a chest of 42" to 44", and a weight of about 190-210 pounds.
