This leather is chrome-tanned, and has an aniline finish in dark seal brown. We like this goatskin, especially for post-WWII Navy jackets. The leather has good weight, but is much softer and more flexible than our veg-tanned goatskin. This jacket has all the correct details of a typical Star 55J14, like vintage mouton, rayon lining, Conmar zipper, and knits with the correct rib-rack pattern in wool. We copy the label and pocket tag just as Star's jackets had. The buttons on this jacket are vintage Navy buttons. This jacket has been lightly used for about six hours, to see how it ages, and one can see that the sleeves don't show much in the way of wrinkles, nor does the back. It's extremely comfortable as leather jackets go. No patches or name tags were ever applied to the jacket.
