This jacket is used, but looks almost new. The knits are the only visual give-away that the jacket wasn't made
yesterday, as they've got some darned holes. For those who know Ralph Edwards, and their early 1960s Navy jacket
pattern, it's a strong athletic design. The shoulders are wide and square, sharp looking, and the lower torso
is of a slender width, but not tight. The sleeves have plenty of room on the top, and taper down to a clean
end with the cuffs. One can tell that patterning was carefully thought out with their jackets.

Ralph Edwards was a company based in Cape Girardeau, MO, and had started out as Cagleco Sportswear. The name
change happened around 1959, and they made a massive amount of Navy flying jackets, under both banners.
They lasted at least until 1984, as that was their final Naval flying jacket contract date.

This 1964 jacket is exceptionally well made, and has all original parts. The knits, as mentioned, have some darning, but
we believe they should remain in the jacket, as it's still very clean. The mouton is fantastic, the lining is like-new,
and the Conmar zipper works just like when the jacket was delivered to the Navy. No patches were ever applied
to the jacket, and it has a subtle odor of the tanning process.

These G-1s of the 7823C series are the last of the great examples. The quality of Navy G-1s sadly gets lower and lower
from this point on, but originals like this can be found, and they are easy to wear. The goatskin of this jacket is soft,
buttery-flexible, and as new, with a superb pigment finish.

As wearable jackets are concerned, this one is a King. The pattern and overall look will garner compliments when out.

The jacket would ideally fit someone in the range of 5'9" to 6', with a chest of 41.5" to 44", and a weight of about 180-205 pounds. The jacket is shown
with a wearer who is 6 feet tall with a 41" chest, and it fits slender but comfortable.
