It's in very wearable condition, with leather that's both supple but strong, and a new set of knits. The lining is also very sturdy, with only a few small holes along the waistband. It had two holes at the neck which we sewed closed (seen in photos below). We don't have a history of the jacket's use during the war, but a service number was written in the lining. If someone knows how to interpret those numbers, fantastic. We weren't able to. The leather has that look that's so hard to copy...the leather was finished in russet, but then oversprayed with a very thin dark seal by the tannery, and that dark seal fades off of all the high points and areas which get friction. This look is so wonderful. Few tanneries would even attempt such a finish today. The leather is strong, with no weak areas, and the thread holding it together is robust and strong, too. The lining, as mentioned, is very solid, and the knits are new, installed by us. The zipper was installed so that both sides of the jacket are slightly off balance, which can be seen by the pockets. We only de-threaded the lower 4" of the zipper, so this was Aero's misbalanced sewing, which is common with originals. Otherwise, the zipper is great, and the jacket looks so cool. The only odor of the jacket is the sweet smell of the tanning process...pleasant. No name tags or patches were applied to it.
